About this gallery

I put this gallery together in order to share some of my vacation photography with my friends across the world. I created the first version of 'Point and Click America' while on a train from Tacoma, Washington to Portland, Oregon. Since then I've updated the site and made it a permanent fixture on the net so that anyone who stumbles upon this might also enjoy these pictures.

It's called 'Point and Click America' because that is simply what it is. Just me with a small digital camera wandering around shooting whatever I think looks interesting, colorful or vaguely worth a few megabytes of a digital film.

I've always been into photography since the days when I owned a huge old Zenith SLR monster as a kid. Back then my Dad used to take the films I had shot to his work where he would get the photo desk to develop the pictures for me on a contact sheet so I could choose the prints I wanted by ringing them with a red marker.

I suppose if I was to get all "arty" and talk about my work, I would harp on about how I like to look for the shots no one else has. How I like to try and look at some of the simplest things and see if they would be interesting in a different context. I imagine a possible shot mounted on a white background in some glossy magazine. In reality of course, my prints aren't likely to get that far, but this website is a good enough home for most of them I'm sure.

However these are vacation pictures and therefore a good portion of them are of people, usually taken by me holding the camera at arms length so I can get in the picture too! They're snapshots. Snapshots of my memories, of a great vacation, a fantastic month in the States.

I hope you enjoy them.

Thanks for visiting.
